Catalog description
The Evidence Based Medicine and Medical Research course provides osteopathic medical students with the competency to critically appraise medical evidence and make informed clinical decisions as future physicians. Examples from patient care and clinical research are applied to explain epidemiological concepts pertaining to bias, validity, generalizability, confounding, causality and appropriate measures of risk and association. The interpretation and application of diagnostic and screening tests are emphasized. Two online modules by the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Health Systems Science Learning Series identify basic principles of quality improvement and how clinical informatics impacts health care delivery. This course includes an Interprofessional Experience (IPE). •
