Foundations of Epidemiology and Biostatistics introduces students to epidemiological methods used in public health to determine the distribution and determinants of disease and health outcomes. Examples from patient care and clinical research are applied to explain epidemiological concepts pertaining to public health surveillance, study design, measures of risk commonly used in each study design, and association between risk and outcome. Basic statistical concepts commonly used in clinical research are introduced, including statistical inference, hypothesis testing, types of data and understanding the difference between parametric and non-parametric tests. This course includes an Interprofessional Experience (IPE). •
