This course discusses the origin and development of criminal investigation. It examines the theories and practices of the investigation process within the criminal justice system, as well as the analysis of information and application of operational techniques relating to the investigation of specific crimes, the identification of sources of information and the procedures necessary for the proper handling of evidence. Students learn about the concepts of surveillance and monitoring along with interview and interrogation techniques.
