Pharmacology for Nursing

Catalog description
This course is designed to cover the basic facts, terms and elements related to the study of drugs and medications in clients. The student will be exposed to the components, presentations, administration techniques and legal aspects of drug administration. The classifications of drugs, therapeutic and possible adverse reactions, me chanism of action in the human body, both at local and systemic levels are discussed. Emphasis is on the correct, safe interpretation and administration of medication orders for clients. It includes a review of measure and conversion systems. The focus of this course is the development of safe and efficient skills to take medical orders, administer and document drug therapies to clients. The Nursing Process is applied in the administration of drug therapy.
