Catalog description

One (1) credit, 45 hours Co-requisites: CHE 2172 Continuation of the practical and experimental course of the organic compounds learned during the course of Organic Chemistry II. Emphasis on synthesis and reactions of aromatic compounds, aldehydes and ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, amines and amides, saponification, and other compounds. Review of purification techniq ues, recrystallization, and identification of organic compounds. The identification of Organic Compounds is developed through spectroscopic techniques such as Infra -red Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Mass Spectrometry.
