Fundamentals of Firearms Use and Handling

Catalog description
Three (3) credits. 60 hours Discussion of the origin and development of firearms, the different types, and the composition of its the parts. Study of the rules and security measures for the use and management of firearms, as stated by the law in Puerto Rico and the United States. The legal aspects are also studied, as well as special laws and regulations for processing the permit to have, possess and transport firear ms. Analysis of the jurisprudence resolved by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and the United States. Practical exercises will be carried out in a shooting range, using firearms, and ammunition provided for this type of exercise. Practical exercises will be done with previous authorization from the Puerto Rico Police and supervising agencies that overlook compliance of shooting ranges in Puerto Rico. This course consists of 30 hours of lecture and 30 hours of laboratory.
