Catalog description

This course analyses the development of procedural rules governing the adjudication of criminal cases, with emphasis on fundamental constitutional doctrines. The course discusses topics such as the investigative stages preceding the initiation of criminal proceedings and prosecutorial discretion, pre-trial motions, plea negotiations, the rights of the defendant at trial, among others, as related to the Constitution of Puerto Rico and the orga nizational structure of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico’s Court of First Instance and the US Supreme Court.
