Catalog description

This course studies the progression and application of substantive criminal law and the socio - historical development of criminal codification in Puerto Rico. It includes the nature and origins of criminal law, substantive due process, elements of criminal liability, the doctrine of complicity, uncompleted crimes, defenses to criminal liability, and the element s of crimes against persons, habitation, property, public order, and other crimes contained in the Puerto Rico Penal Code of 2012. The course focuses closely on the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico’s and US Supreme Court case law.
