Constitutional Law

Catalog description

This course examines Puerto Rico’s and USA constitutional law in a historical and modern context. Students explore the principles of Civil and Human Rights; the organizational structure of the Puerto Rico and United States Governments; the development of constitutional rights leading to the existing political system; and the allocation of decision -making authority among government institutions, including the distribution of power across the legislative, j udicial and executive branches. The course focuses closely on the constitutional text and Supreme Court of Puerto Rico’s case law.
