Catalog description

This course develops lean operations and quality systems for continuous improvement, with applied use of analytics and AI. Students learn to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and design pull and flow. Methods include value stream mapping, 5S, kanban, takt and capacity planning, statistical process control, control charts, process capability, defects per million opportunities, failure mode analysis, and sustainability return on investment. AI labs pilot predictive quality analytics, computer vision checks for 5S, real time anomaly alerts, and AI support for kanban decisions and simulation games. Emphasis is on human-in-the-loop practice, data ethics, and executive communication of cost, service, quality, and risk.
