Catalog description

This course introduces a broad history of radiography combined with the specific physics of dental radiography in conjunction with the function of the dental x-ray unit. Emphasizes is placed on providing the students the knowledge to understand concepts related to dental radiation, health and safety. Students will gain knowledge and fundamentals to expose and evaluate, process both traditional and digital, as well as mount and label dental radiographs according to anatomical landmarks. Students build on principles and skills in infection control. Students will learn hazards of radiation exposure as well as identification and correction of radiographic pitfalls are emphasized. Students will learn to pronounce, define, and spell key terms.
