Catalog description

This course introduces the fundamentals of cybersecurity with an emphasis on building and maintaining secure computing environments. Students explore core methodologies, technologies, and best practices for protecting systems, networks, and data. Artificial intelligence (AI)–driven tools are integrated throughout the course to demonstrate how modern security operations monitor activity, detect anomalies, and support rapid defense against evolving threats. Learners gain foundational skills in threat identification, access control, and security policy implementation while applying ethical and legal considerations. By combining theoretical knowledge with applied practice, this course prepares students for further study in cybersecurity and covers key objectives required for the CompTIA Security+ certification.
