Media Relations For Law Enforcement

Catalog description

This course provides an overview of departmental protocols for release of information to media outlets, the public, and other government agencies. The course also outlines issues involving dissemination of information and addresses state and federal freedom of information and privacy protection laws. The course will also explore how media influence, including social media, the internet, and “fake news,” shapes how the public perceives the criminal justice system.
