Pre-requisites: SOCI 101 . Satisfies: a university graduation requirement–global studies. Uses sociological thinking and imagination to study the Cuban Revolution as an example of historical revolutions in the world system, and the Zapatistas in Chiapas, Mexico as reinventing revolution from below—from autonomous communities and territories—in the 21st century. Includes reading, interpreting, discussing, and writing about the global and historical context and context of the Cuban Revolution and the Zapatista movement as a guide for building better worlds in the contemporary world.
