Pre-requisites: ENGL 101 . Satisfies: a university graduation requirement–diversity. Covers the relationship between social justice and identity. Identity can be defined as presentations of the self that facilitate human social interaction and thereby situate individuals in social structures. We use the concept of social justice to explore how identities are central to various forms of social inequality. The course takes an intersectional approach by exploring how multiple identities (e.g., race, class, gender) combine in individual and social life.
