Pre-requisites: English competency. Satisfies: a university graduation requirement–global studies. Introduces medical sociology, sometimes referred to as the sociology of health and illness. Particular attention is paid to social and cultural forces that affect illness, disparities in health, and access to healthcare. Introduces the major concepts, methods, and theories that social scientists deploy to understand general trends and topics in health, illness, and medicine.
