Pre-requisites: English proficiency. Provides a foundation of the essential knowledge and skills to travel in snow-based backcountry terrain. Students learn about managing the risks of a snow-based environment through a focus on avalanche education. Students learn about a variety of equipment and techniques that can be used to travel within this type of environment (skis, snowshoes, crampons). Provides an introduction to mountaineering equipment and techniques.
