Catalog description

Pre-requisites: POLI 203 or POLI 204 or permission of instructor. Satisfies: a university graduation requirement–global studies. This course examines the complex and dynamic regions of South Asia. The course introduces students to the political evolution of the region and to the major scholarly debates on the countries of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Particular emphasis is placed on colonial legacies, nationalism and histories of state formation as well as political institutions and their evolution.
