Catalog description

Pre-requisites: admission to graduate program. This course provides theory and practice with machine arithmetic, propagation, analysis, and alleviation of rounding errors and other perturbations. Methods include conditioning, matrix factorisations (LU, QR, SVD) and backward analysis. Typical applications are Google PageRank, Kalman filtering, data compression and image processing with wavelets. This course requires the use of computers and software available at EWU.
