Catalog description

Satisfies: a BACR for humanities and arts. Examines Sumerian, Hebrew, Greek, Roman, and early Christian literatures and cultures. Students learn the tradition of Western ideas and learn to distinguish early genres, such as epic, lyric, and drama, to recognize cultural narratives, beliefs, and symbols, and to develop skills in critical reading, writing, and the use of sources.
