Notes: HIST 302 is the recommended background for this course. Topics vary with changes in the world situation. This course is repeatable for credit. Pre-requisites: ENGL 201 or permission of instructor. Satisfies: a university graduation requirement–global studies. This course will provide the historical background of contemporary geo-political problems and events, such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, nuclear proliferation, and resource wars. It begins with the end of World War II/the beginning of the Cold War and concludes with issues ripped from today’s newspaper headlines.
