Notes: upper division elective. Pre-requisites: BIOL 270 ; CHEM 171 ; MATH 380 or BIOL 380 or MATH 161 or HONS 161 . This is an elective course about how energy and matter flow through ecological systems. Ecosystem ecology uses chemistry and physics to understand the interactions between organisms and their physical environment. This course has a strong focus on ecological methods, both in discussing the methods used by ecologists in research that we cover, as well as activities in which students practice experimental design, formulating models, and working with data.
