Catalog description

Satisfies: completion of series satisfies the university world language requirement. Basic introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf Culture. Includes basic ASL vocabulary, grammatical structures, and conversational behaviors. Focus is placed on the development of the conceptual aspects of the language. Special emphasis is placed on the cultural values and beliefs shared by the Deaf Community.
