Catalog description

Pre-requisites: sophomore standing. Corequisite: ART 308L . Serves as an introduction to the rich tradition of analog photography. Using film cameras and the black-and-white darkroom students learn the skills necessary to photograph, develop, and print their own images. Instruction includes technique, but also a primer, the history, and theory of the photographic image. Emphasis is put on creative expression and the artistic application of black-and-white photography. Companion course to ART 308L .
