Satisfies: a BACR for humanities and arts. Explores the importance of language for understanding human beings. Studying language and its diversity allows us to better appreciate different cultures by giving us a sense of how people view the world differently. In the analysis of language, we learn about interpretation and philosophically-rich inquiry. This course explores several different cultures through the lens of language and the interpretive problems that anthropologists face in trying to understand them.
