Catalog description

I, II. Recommended: GER 101 or equivalent proficiency. (Students entering GER 102 by referral or placement, with two years of high school German or equivalent, receive three hours of credit for prior learning for GER 101 if they earn an A or B in GER 102 .) This course builds on the development of basic oral communication skills, with a focus on improving speaking and listening proficiency in German. Students will continue to acquire practical vocabulary and foundational grammatical structures through interactive, communicative activities. Students will also engage with realia and short readings that focus on Germanic cultural topics. Emphasis is placed on continually reinforcing language functions to build fluency and promote effective interpersonal communication in German. This course assumes a thorough knowledge of the vocabulary and grammatical structures taught in German 101. Gen. Ed. E-1C [OC] or E-3B [AH].
