<p><span style="color: #0000ff;">GEM STAMPED: GEM 5: HUMANISTIC AND ARTISTIC WAYS OF KNOWING</span></p> This course studies the development of jazz and popular music in the United States. Jazz, blues, folk, rock and other popular music forms will be heard and studied along with important instrumentalists, singers, and band composers. Important historical and social events which paralleled the development of jazz and popular music will also be discussed. Some live and recorded demonstrations of musical style periods will be presented.
