Catalog description

This course introduces the student to the physics of atoms, molecules, nuclei and elementary particles. The course includes early quantum theory, relativistic mechanics, and the wave and quantum properties of photons and electrons; Schrodinger’s equation, and its application to the structure of atoms, molecules, and solids; nuclear physics, elementary particles. PHYS 328 - Mathematical Physics may be taken as a pre-requisite or co-requisite/concurrently.
