This course is designed to introduce students to the major theories about the origins, the social and historical contexts, and the development of English as a distinct language. It is an introductory study of selected topics in English semantics, phonology, morphology, and syntax from the pre-history of English to the present. Recommended Pre-Requisite: ENGL 231 , English Grammar
