Catalog description

This course is an introductory study of human language theory. Given evidence from various languages, students will formulate explicit generalizations, which will give them insight into linguistic theory. Investigation will then turn to social variations within languages, changes that occur in languages over time, the use of language to communicate, and language acquisition. Recommended Pre-Requisite: ENGL 231 : English Grammar
