Catalog description

The course serves as an overview of Christian theological ethics, with a particular focus on the Catholic tradition. We will focus on the sources of theological ethics that explicate a Christian vision of the good life and what it means for human beings to flourish. In particular, this course gives detailed attention to fundamental moral concepts important to the shape of Catholic theological ethics in the twentieth and twenty-first century, including virtue, conscience, freedom, sin, norms, and natural law. Our study of these concepts will explore both theoretical questions and their practical and pastoral implications.
