Catalog description

This teaching practicum is open to qualified students on a limited basis. Prior to registration the student must seek permission from a faculty mentor. The faculty mentor and student will then develop a one semester study plan that includes learning goals related to teaching sociology, work expectations, and graded assignments, all of which are commensurate with graduate educational expectations. The student will assist the faculty mentor in a classroom setting and will conduct a course of study that includes educational philosophy, pedagogical skills in course development, assessment, lecture presentation, and related skills. Permission of the Graduate Director is required for registration.
