Medical Speech-Language Pathology Seminar

Catalog description

This seminar is designed to introduce students to the management of communication and swallowing disorders in the medical setting, specifically those disorders not addressed in traditional courses. The seminar will address the management of speech and swallowing disorders in patients with tracheostomy and methods of speech restoration for patients with laryngectomy. Topics specific to practice in the medical setting, including medical terminology, abbreviations and documentation, will also be addressed.
