Catalog description
This course is designed to prepare students for clinical work with people with complex communication needs across a variety of settings. Students will learn about the history of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC); models of AAC intervention; assessment principles and procedures; components of AAC strategies and devices; language, symbolization, cognitive and literacy issues; team approaches to assessment and intervention; and interventions across the age and disability spectrum. Students will participate in lab activities.
