Developmental Language Disorders and Autism II

Catalog description

This course is part two of a two-semester sequence. Students will learn about language disorders and autism in school-aged children and adolescents, with an emphasis on prevention, screening, assessment, differential diagnosis, intervention, and multicultural considerations. Students will learn to collect and analyze language samples and will demonstrate competence in selecting and justifying assessment tasks and intervention goals and procedures through engagement in clinical case- and problem-based activities. Additional topics in this course may include the relationships between language, literacy, and learning, positive behavioral interventions and supports, and issues related to school-based practice.
