Catalog description
This course is designed to prepare students for clinical work with people with aphasia across the rehabilitative spectrum of care. As such, students will integrate background information from neurophysiology to the understanding of aphasia. Emphasis will be placed on theories of aphasia, classification systems, assessment and differential diagnosis, as well as the development of appropriate restorative and compensatory intervention plans. This course will entail clinical description and characteristics of the impairments as well as on the psychosocial changes in life activities and participation of people who live with aphasia.
