Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge about the nature, diagnosis, and treatment of speech sound production deficits, with an emphasis on pediatric cases. Students will gain a fundamental knowledge of: a) typical and disordered patterns of speech sound development, b) methods of analyzing speech production data, c) current best practices of assessing and treating speech sound disorders, and d) the impact and functional outcomes for individuals with speech sound disorders. Students will integrate theoretical constructs of spoken language production to the differential diagnosis and management of speech sound disorders.
