Clinical Procedures and Observation in Speech-Language Pathology

Catalog description
This course serves as an introduction to the essential skills of clinical practice in the treatment of speech and language disorders in pediatric and adult populations. Basic clinical methods and procedures will be introduced, including the development of skills to select therapy targets, generate behavioral objectives, develop treatment plans and write SOAP notes. 25 hours of clinical observation will be completed outside class meeting times. Completion of training in reporting child abuse, HIPAA compliance and Bloodborne pathogens are required and completed in this course. Pre-requisites: Documentation of meeting all pre-clinical requirements (health, background checks, etc.). Please Note: "Departmental approval to register for this course will be granted once the student has successfully completed submission of all Pre-Clinical requirements.
