Catalog description

This course focuses on clinical phonetics, transcription phonetics, and the application of phonetics in the clinical management of clients with speech sound disorders. Broad and narrow transcription will be learned using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Students will gain an appreciation of speech produced by children and adults with typically developing speech production, disordered speech production, and with speech differences due to nonmainstream American English dialects.
