In this series of courses, PhD students will further study the function and activities of tissues and tissue organization as they relate to movement. The course provides a comprehensive survey of the structure, composition, and function of tissues and their cellular and non-cellular components in muscle, glands, skin, organs, neurons, and bone. Particular emphasis is placed on structural organization and structural ? functional relationships in mammals, with occasional comparisons to other vertebrates. In the laboratory, PhD students learn to analyze tissue morphology through light microscopy and examination of electron micrographs.
