Duquesne University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
This course is a continuation of Dysphagia I on oropharyngeal dysphagia. Dysphagia can lead directly, or through a complex sequence, to new diseases or medical emergencies such as pneumonia, airway obstruction, dehydration, or malnutrition. Oropharyngeal dysphagia is a result or symptom of something(s) else, and how it is managed depends not only on the physiologic characteristics of the condition or disease that caused it, but also on the cultural, personal and other individual characteristics of each unique patient.
