Catalog description
This course investigates current topics in rehabilitation sciences, particularly by reading classic scientific publications, recent publications, and or controversial topics. The course focuses the student on searching, reading, and assessing scientific literature in rehabilitation. Specific areas that will receive attention are muscle growth and repair, nervous and connective tissue healing, clinical trials in orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation in response to injury, surgery, or disease, and cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. This course is intended as an introduction to how research is designed, conducted, and searched and interpreted by clinicians. Students work in groups to find and interpret research and then interpret and present their findings in oral and written form.
