Catalog description

This course explores the historical and socio-cultural factors that influenced the treatment and diagnosis of mental illness. The course explores Western treatment, primarily in the US with brief exploration of Western Europe. Special focus will be given to talk therapy and institutionalization. The course involves engagement with various community partners reflecting on the history of mental health treatment.
