Catalog description

This course examines how law and politics intersect in shaping the rules of American democracy. Students explore the constitutional and statutory foundations of elections? covering voting rights, redistricting, campaign finance, and election administration?while considering the political interests and values that drive legal change. Through court decisions, legislative debates, and current controversies, the course asks who holds power in the electoral system, how that power is exercised, and what reforms might make elections more fair and representative.
