Catalog description

This course is the second of a three-course sequence in Examination Methods. The course builds from the first two courses in learning and practicing basic examination and documentation techniques specific to the upper quarter. Topics covered are specific to the evaluation of the cervical and thoracic spine and the upper extremity. Students will master critical evaluation skills that include of regional surface palpation, range of motion, manual muscle testing, functional testing, and sensation and reflexes the upper extremity. Students will be exposed to these concepts within the framework of patient problems and will be expected to integrate and apply this knowledge during the classroom laboratory experiences. Examinations and competencies will reflect this philosophy.
