Catalog description

This course presents an array of subject matter on which traditional orthopedic physical therapy is practiced. The course provides a theoretical framework which is intended to facilitate the treatment of patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction. Lectures explore commonly used manual and exercise procedures utilized by the orthopedic physical therapy practitioner during the rehabilitation process. It is the intent of this course to illuminate the link between the theory and practical application of many of these commonly employed physical therapy procedures. The content of this class also serves to complement material presented in the remainder of the orthopedic sequence. The class involves practical application of the lecture material. Accompanying learning activities will exercise practical application and clinical reasoning skills. Students will be asked to apply knowledge from courses covering content in anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, and orthopedic science.
