Catalog description

This is the third of a multi-course sequence of integrated clinical education. In this one credit course students will demonstrate the collective readiness to begin Full-Time, immersed clinical rotations. Students are expected to apply academic knowledge and clinical skills to develop problem-solving strategies to evaluate and treat patients that they have learned collectively throughout the entirety of the program to this point. Students will practice and show mastery of key elements of patient management: taking vitals, history taking, gait assessment, transfer education, neuro screening, goniometry, exercise prescription, and goal writing. Students will work in groups with a member(s) of the faculty to review their performance and make constructive feedback to peers. The course will culminate in completion of the Matriculation Exam. This exam is a comprehensive practical that all students must pass to move on to their Clinical Education Experiences. The exam is graded by outside clinicians who are skilled, licensed therapists currently working as a licensed physical therapists.
