Catalog description

Bulk and nanoscale properties of solid state materials are surveyed from macroscopic as well as microscopic perspectives. Topics include chemical bonding, crystal structures, mechanical and thermal properties of lattices, electronic properties of metals, semiconductors, magnetic materials, superconductors and nanostructures. Prerequisites: PHYS 374 with C or better.
