Since time immemorial, as the Earth turned away from the sun to begin the night, the human environment was only lit by a mysterious moon and a rotating blanket of stars overhead. Today, we have high-definition images of these objects, robots roving on them, probes orbiting them, and deep theories to understand their origin and the fabric of space itself.
