Catalog description
The course is designed to provide students with an introductory knowledge and experience in interpreting and performing patient assessment skills including physical assessment and clinical laboratory assessment for monitoring response to drug therapy. The course will concentrate on interpreting physical and laboratory findings in the medical record and those directly assessed by the student as ?normal/acceptable? vs ?abnormal?. Current guidelines for the evaluation and treatment of commonly encountered diseases (hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, etc) will be presented. The course is designed to develop competence in associating various organ system and laboratory findings to the evaluation of drug therapy. PHPR 443 is a prerequisite for PHBM 443 and PHBM 444.
